Travel Rants

semi-overcast 3 °C

When it rains, it pours!

After Eric's post on my interview at Folksonomy, there's another interview that's hit the trogosphere (hey, who says I can't make up that word?!). Darren Cronian of Travel Rants is the unlucky chap that had the dubious honour of interviewing me this time.

It's nice and short, so don't worry, you can read the whole thing here and not get bored!

You answer a question in the article on "travel 2.0." What is meant by this term?

15.01.2007 by GregW

It's basically web 2.0, but looking at travel business/sites only. Web 2.0 is a term coined to include a wave of sites created in the past 2 years or so that are focused on users and the interaction between users. Wikipedia has a good article on this at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0 . Tim O'Reilly (who first coined the phrase) once defined it as a "second generation of Internet-based services that let people collaborate and share information online in a new way—such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies."
Sites like wikipedia are a great example of a web 2.0 site.

This is a big hype word right now, especially among startups who are looking to raise money, travel or not. Naturally, for those of you who have been using Travellerspoint for a while you'll know we've been all about this from the beginning :)
