Learning is fun!

Today's G rated link

As travellers, we really ought to know a thing or two about geography. I thought I had a decent knowledge, but after visiting iliketolearn.com, it has become frightfully apparent that I am not nearly as clued in as I believed.

I started off ok, with a nice 92% for the Europe countries quiz. Then came a drop when I tried my hand at European capitals: 80%. When I decided to try my hand at Africa, the result was just scary. Let's just say I passed...

If anyone can top 60% for the Africa quiz you can have a... hmm... well treat yourself to something nice.

Why I want to go to Iceland

This week's top 10 list

I never knew I wanted to go to Iceland, but this list of top ten airports has pretty much convinced me I HAVE to plan a stopover in Iceland next time I'm in that neck of the woods. It also flattered me to realise I can already tick the box next to six of those ten airports :)

On a serious note...

Travel, the environment and our links directory...?

The environmental consequence of travel and the travel industry is something that the world is becoming much more aware of. How do we respond? Is our globetrotting justified when you consider that each flight we take will damage the environment?

There's no easy answer. A forum discussion last June highlighted many members' views.

For those of you who are concerned about the environmental impact your travel is having, Peter also added a bunch of links to carbon emissions offsetting programs run around the world. There are programs listed for the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Brazil.
