Nominate Your Blog for the Blogger's Choice Awards 2008

The Blogger's Choice Awards is a cool competition aiming to uncover the best blogs out there. After browsing through the Travel category, I decided that some of our Travellerspoint members' blogs really ought to be up there competing. Here's a bunch I went ahead and nominated for Best Travel Blog:

If you want to nominate your blog, you can do so here. You will have to sign up for a Blogger's Choice Awards account though.

Once your site has been nominated, here are a few simple things you can do to increase your chances of winning:

  • Tell your blog's readers.
  • Add the badge to your blog: A while ago, we made it possible for you to add a collection of your favourite links to your blog. Recently, we also made it possible to add an image file to any of those links. So if your blog has been nominated, you can link to it and provide this image url: http://www.bloggerschoiceawards.com/images/bca_badges/bca_badge_besttravelblog.gif. That's a really easy way to remind your readers to vote for you.
  • Leave a comment below: If you've nominated your blog, let us know! I'd love to check it out.

Best Travel Community

At times you come across people that clearly just don't know what they're talking about when they post their lists of best travel sites online. At other times, you just know the person has taken time, researched the market and actually come up with their own list without copying it off of some other site. I can only assume that Darren of Travel Rants is one such person after having rated Travellerspoint the best travel community of 2007 :)

Quoting "Darren @ Travel Rants"

There are thousands of travel community sites providing travellers with a platform to ask questions and write about their own travel experiences. I chose Travellerspoint because of the obvious passion for travel and the very useful wikitravel guide and travel maps.

Obviously a genius!

What the heck Jason, you got me :)

Since you ask so kindly Jason, would you do up a page for the term "travel forum(s)/message boards". I'd like to be really cheeky and also ask for more travel related ones like "travel photography" (even if it was just as a heading under your photography page), but I'll try not to push it. Your editors already know where to find the best travel content online, don't they?

Chance to win $2000!

Well, who am I to withhold an email like this from you, our dear readers and members?!

Quoting "email"

Dear Travellerspoint,

The Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) is undertaking a study
with the financial assistance of the World Bank to assist with the marketing
and development of the tourism sector in Tanzania.

Acorn Consulting have been commissioned to undertake a web-based survey on
their behalf, and are offering a prize of $2,000 cash to spend on a holiday in Tanzania for anyone completing an online survey. We are placing links to the online survey on relevant web sites to encourage travellers (visitors and potential visitors to Tanzania) to complete it.

The link is http://tanzania.smzone.co.uk/index.php

we would very much appreciate it if you could ask your website manager to put this link on your website, perhaps with a button that attracts attention such as “win $2,000 to spend on a holiday in Tanzania”. Or simply being able to post it as thread would also be useful. The survey runs until the 12th November after which we will analyse our findings. Please contact us if you would like to know more about the results.

Many thanks for your assistance.

C P

I've never been to Tanzania, but it's on the list of places I'd love to visit! I took the survey myself and it was 20 short questions. Some are a little backwards, like after you've answered that you haven't been to Africa the next question is still "have you been to Tanzania", but the entire survey is tick box style so quick to do.

Hope you enjoy the survey and fingers crossed a Travellerspoint member wins!
