The Best of 2012 Photo Competition received more than 1100 entries, from which 160 finalists were voted on by five expert judges and the Travellerspoint community to come up with our two winners. With so many deserving finalists though, we are showcasing their talents in a series of photo posts.

Travel and photography go hand-in-hand for most people and the Travellerspoint community is no different. When we put the call out for our Best of 2012 Photo Competition, we had no idea of the response we would receive.

After more than 1100 entries and countless hours looking at beautiful travel photos (poor us, right?), we put forward the top 160 photos for the community to vote on their favourites. We presented the winners in a Best of 2012 post but there were so many photographers that deserve a mention that we will be showcasing their talents with a series of photo posts. Every two months, Travellerspoint holds a competition for our members. The photos above are the top photos from the Best of 2012 Photo Competition.

Congratulations to thinkofazote, who won the Judge's Prize and has won himself a signed copy of Lonely Planet's Guide to Travel Photography, an amazing 160x120cm ixxi photo collage, and $500 cash.
